Call of the wild Part II

I hiked to Jack's awesome grave.



On my way there, I rested on this spiffy moss-covered tree stump.



Jack's grave was a small plot of land with a large rock in the middle, surrounded by a wood fence.



Afterwards, I visited the remains of Wolf House, which was supposed to be Jack's dream house.



The house was almost complete when it was destroyed by fire in 1913.



Poor Jack. Oh, well. He died only three years later.



And I was soon on my merry way to more Jack London fun!

Call of the wild Part I

I went on an awesome trip to Sonoma County to visit the Jack London State Historic Park. It's located in Glen Ellen.



Writer Jack London, whose novels include White Fang and The Call of the Wild, used to live there. 



He died at the age of 40 in 1916 due to poor health.



First stop at the park was the House of Happy Walls.



The house was built in 1919 in memory of Jack by Charmian London, Jack's second wife.



It now serves as a museum and houses many of the awesome items Jack collected from his world travels.  Jack was also known as an adventurer.





I even learned how to tie different types of knots.  Awesome! Stay tuned for more!

Veterans Day

Today is 11-11-11 and Veterans Day!  Veterans Day is a federal holiday and used to be known as Armistice Day.  The first one was in 1919, the year after World War I ended, and proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson.



Let's salute all the awesome veterans in the good ol' U.S. of A.!

Rubber toys

These rubber pop-up toys are awesome, especially the yellow one.



You're supposed to invert them, press against a flat surface, and then wait for them to pop-up.



It's kind of hard for a little man to do. So I found other ways to play with them.

Rockin' robin

I had a rockin' meal at Red Robin.

Removing the paper ring from my napkin/flatware bundle.



My awesome cheeseburger and fries.



I sprinkled more Red Robin seasoning on my fries.



The fries sure were delicious! I asked for more since it was "endless fries".



Mmm! Did I mention how awesome the fries were?

Big sandwich, little man Part III

Onto my awesome toasted loaves of bread, I began laying down the sandwich fillings.



First, some spiffy round slices of provolone.



Then onions and chicken.



And delicious mushrooms.



Boy, oh, boy, the fillings were getting high!





Remember I'm 1 and 9/16 inches tall.  My sandwiches were stuffed with lots of good stuff!



I enjoyed them with my side of fabulous fries. A mighty delicious and filling lunch for a little man!

Big sandwich, little man Part II

Let the sandwich making continue!



I peeled and sliced the avocados.  Avocados and I have a lot in common -- we're both yellow, green, and black.  How awesome is that?  Totally awesome!



Then I washed and sliced some tomatoes that my big friend had given me.  (He's the awesome tomato farmer!)





Can't forget the lettuce! 



And delicious, crusty loaves of bread!



I sliced each loaf in half horizontally (wowie, what a workout!) and then toasted them.
