The Old Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego was built in 1854.
It was taken out of service in 1891.
I toured inside the lighthouse and then hung out at this cool model of the lighthouse. It was much less crowded here.

Remembering the fallen
My big friend suggested I do a Memorial Day post, which is a totally awesome idea.
Memorial Day, the last Monday of May, honors the awesome people who died while serving in the U.S. military. So let's take a moment out of our busy lives to remember them.

Cactus climb
After a most awesome visit to the San Diego Zoo, I took a stroll through the rest of Balboa Park.
I even climbed a barrel cactus! The sharp spines didn't go through me because I'm made out of super awesome plastic. I sure don't recommend big people to go clambering over cacti.
That night I had an awesome tamale with refried beans on the side. Mmm, delicious!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh, my! Part II
Red river hog and forest buffalo, both natives of Africa.
Visayan warty pigs! They were about the same color as the tree trunks in their enclosure. Do you have any warts? I don't. I am plastic, after all.
Fake snake.
Real snake.
Snakes are awesome, scaly, and slithery!
Visiting with a fake lizard (above) and a fake frog (below).
Real and fake creatures are super awesome! The San Diego Zoo rocked!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh, my! Part I
I visited the San Diego Zoo, which is located within Balboa Park.
Inside one of the aviaries. Cool and colorful birds were literally flying right above my little plastic head. Good thing none of them swooped down and plucked me off the bench.
Hanging onto a life-size model of a gorilla hand.
Sitting on a gorilla foot.
And then standing by a gorilla bust! Awesome!
An African serval.
And a giraffe munching away on some tasty plants! Stay tuned for more zoo photos!

Snow man
Near Lake Cuyamaca. It was awesome! My yellow plastic rear got icy cold!

Baking in the sun Part III
At the end of the Palm Canyon Trail were... palm trees! Awesome!
I hiked all the way back and then went wandering elsewhere through the desert.
Lots and lots of hot, dry desert to explore!
I climbed some dead plants.
Up, up, and away.
And then... I'm going down, down, baby.
But a few falls and mishaps can't stop a little plastic man from adventure! On I go!

Baking in the sun Part II
While hiking through Anza-Borrego Desert, I had to cross a stream.
Yessirree, there was an awesome stream of water running through the desert!
Unfortunately, as I've mentioned before, my cool black plastic shoes don't have the best traction. I ended up slipping and falling into the stream. I flowed down the stream for a while but managed to pull myself out onto a rock. I lay there for a moment.
Then I decided to have a snack to recover from the shock. Easy Cheese and crackers on the rock!
Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies on the rock!
After eating and replenishing my energy, I was good as new. I went on my awesome, merry way.

Baking in the sun Part I
Deserts are super awesome.
Here I am at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
It's the largest state park in California.
It was named after Juan Bautista de Anza, a Spanish explorer, and the word borrego, which is Spanish and refers to the bighorn sheep that live in the desert. These are some awesome beavertail cactus.
I decided to hike along the Borrego Palm Canyon Nature Trail. Can you find me in the picture? I'm by the awesome green sign.
There were lots of rocks everywhere.
Stay tuned for more, including a near tragedy!

No sand between my toes
Time for a break at another beach!
At Cardiff State Beach. I really liked the awesome green seaweed.
Testing out a shell to see what it'd be like to be a hermit man -- you know, like a hermit crab.
The verdict? Not very comfortable. I didn't stay inside very long.
Random carcasses on the beach.
