The art of making a foil ball

Happy 2014, awesome blog readers!  My first post for the new year is all about making a foil ball.  There's more to them than what meets the eye.  Why, there's an art to the whole thing.  Let's start off with the type of foil.

Wrong kind of foil.  Won't stick.

Right kind of foil.  But a lot of work.

"Work" meaning that you have to separate the foil from the paper.  This type of foil comes primarily from gum wrappers and, due to the adhesive residue, the foil sticks and makes for a pretty foil ball.

Paper on left.  Foil on right.

A pile of just separated foil.  Whew, exhausting!

I already had a small foil ball I had started.  I rolled another piece of foil around the ball.

Then I kept rolling it until it was nice and smooth.

It's a lot of work but it's totally worth it.  All you gotta do is keep rolling more foil around your ball to make it awesome and large.  Foil balls rock!
