I visited Gas Works Park, which is near Lake Union.
This former manufacturing plant was built in the early 1900's to make gas from coal. Operations ceased in the 1950's.
Inside the former exhauster-compressor building is a children's play area. All the old machinery is painted in awesomely bright colors... to attract children, I guess. Kind of like bugs are attracted to lights.
I don't know how much fun kids have playing amongst old machinery, but I had a blast! Remember: Old stuff is awesome stuff! This place was reeking of history! And I love history!
There were awesome views all around!
That's downtown Seattle in the background! And notice the spiffy old Space Needle? Awesome!
