Nuclear past

I went to Rancho Seco with my big friends.

They made me get out of the car to pay the vehicle fee when we arrived.

Rancho Seco is a defunct nuclear power plant built by SMUD. The plant was closed by public vote back in 1989.

See the twin cooling towers in the background?

The area is now a park.

I enjoyed an awesome hike around the lake and the nearby Howard Ranch, which was full of cattle.

There were also lots of awesome wildflowers, birds, and vernal pools.

My big friends grumbled they didn't see anything in the pools. Perhaps if they were my size, they would have because I saw tons of awesome things!
