Ralph and Denny

Howdy!  How'd your day go?  I hope it was awesome -- like mine!

Digging my feet into the awesome sand at Pismo Beach.  I saw a couple of gals get stuck in the sand trying to drive across it in their little car.  Most people driving across the beach had big trucks or SUV's.

Enjoying a meal at Denny's.

And shopping for a healthy snack at Ralphs!

Super Solvang

I visited the spiffy little town of Solvang.

Sitting on their sign.

Getting ready to eat some aebleskivers.  That's raspberry jam and powdered sugar on them.  The aebleskivers were awesome!

There's even a Subway in Solvang.

But more prevalent are vikings and windmills.  I sat on this viking's awesome red shield.

My last stop in Solvang was to buy this box of chocolates.  I can't wait to eat them!

Wild hike

I had a super awesome time hiking in the Rattlesnake Canyon Wilderness Area.

There were cool yellow flowers, streams to cross...

...mini caves to explore...

...uphill and downhill trails to travel.  It was just awesome!

Carpinteria, not Carpeteria

Ah!  An awesome, bright and sunny day on the beach!

At Carpinteria State Beach.  There were lots of RVs, big people, sand, and these rocky formations:

These had a very strong tar smell.

Sitting with the awesome green algae.

Majestic Mugu

After a grand time in San Diego, it was time to head back up north!

I decided to go hiking in Point Mugu State Park, which is located in the Santa Monica Mountains.  I first had lunch, purchased from Vons, at a picnic table on the beach.  A hungry seagull eyed me throughout my meal.  I'm glad he didn't try to eat me.

Awesome ocean waves!

Time for my hike!

There were super cool cactus in the park.

And other spiffy green plants.

I hiked up the steep mountains and enjoyed sweeping views of the ocean and Highway 1, as well as of the mountains.  I give Point Mugu two mighty green hands up!

Eating my way around town

This is me at Westfield Horton Plaza:

The mall was named after Alonzo Horton, who came to San Diego in 1867.  Why was he so important?  Well, he purchased the vacant land by the wharf and begin building on the waterfront.  Awesome Alonzo!

I had a quick meal at Panera Bread, where I also bought some bagels to take with me to snack on.

Then I headed to Seaport Village.

I got hungry so I went to Asaggio and ordered a deep dish sausage pizza.

Mmm!  I love eating!  Eating is awesome!  Do you like to eat?

So old Part II

At Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, I visited all the museums.

The displays were awesome!  There were awesome fake people, delicious-looking fake food, and super cool old stuff!

All the walking through the park with the sun beating down upon my little plastic body left me parched.

So I went and had a root beer float at the House of Jerky and Root Beer.  Mmm!  I got an awesome green straw, too!

So old Part I

I had a jolly good time at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park!

There were many museums throughout the park, along with small shops and restaurants.

A cool model of the town.   Although I'm a little man, it was a little too small for my size.

Sitting on the rusty jail cell.

Barrels!  No monkeys in these ones, though.

Weighing myself on this spiffy old thing.  Stay tuned for more Old Town pictures!

A different kind of father

Near Old Town San Diego is the Old Presidio Historic Trail, which leads to the Junipero Serra Museum and the site of the first awesome Spanish mission and presidio in California.  The presidio was founded 243 years ago in 1769.

Too bad the museum wasn't open the day I walked down the trail.

I would have loved to see it.  After all, I had an awesome time sitting on Father Serra's big toe in Sacramento.  Father Serra rocks!  And speaking of fathers, tomorrow is Father's Day, although a different kind of father.  Don't forget your awesome dad!  I don't have a dad.  Remember, I was probably made in a plastic factory somewhere.

After leaving the museum site, I wandered around the grounds and admired these awesome seed pods.

Then on my way back down the trail, I decided to take a picture with this awesome orange flower:

Next up was Old Town San Diego!

Trails and dam Part II

At Mission Trails Regional Park, I decided to go on a hike.

Past the dam and onto the trail!

I sure do love hiking!  Hiking is super awesome and fabulous exercise!

I passed ponds full of tadpoles.  I also saw lizards, birds, and a caterpillar getting blown around by the wind as it tried to cross the trail.

I had an awesome time here!
