Diggin' Malakoff Diggins Part I

I visited the awesome Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park.

It's located in Nevada City -- gold country!

The park has cabins that can be reserved by people who want to be amongst black bears.

And other old, ramshackle cabins.

I had an awesome time jumping in the leaf piles.

Malakoff Diggins is the site of California's largest hydraulic mine.

Hydraulic mining uses high-pressure jets of water to break up rock in the search for precious metal.  (My precious!)

This is a giant monitor and was used in hydraulic mining.
