Fab fort

I went to Fort Point National Historic Site, which is right next to the awesome Golden Gate Bridge.

The U.S. Army built the fort between 1853 and 1861.

The fort served to protect the San Francisco harbor from attack during and after the Civil War.

It was designated a national historic site in 1970. I'm sitting on the bench in this photo.

There were super awesome displays.  There was a document listing menus from 1880's U.S. Army cook book.  A sample supper menu consisted of dried fruit, stewed; coffee; and bread.

Stewed dried fruit doesn't sound very awesome.  But Fort Point was a totally awesome place!
