Marvelous medical museum

I visited the Museum of Medical History at the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society.

Behind me is an iron lung, which was used to treat polio victims with paralysis.  This iron lung even had a fake person (a blonde-haired doll) in it.  Fake people rock!

The displays were downright awesome, showcasing medical artifacts and instruments from the mid-1800's through today.

A lot of the stuff from back in the day sure was scary looking.  These ones don't look too bad, though -- these are urological instruments from around 1870.

For big people, the museum probably won't seem that big, but it has tons of awesome stuff to look at!  If you like bedpans, check out the "Bedpans Through the Century".  There's even some leeches and flying squirrel feces that you can admire.  All in the name of medicine.

There are also lots of medical books...

...and even a monkey doctor...

I had a grand time!

  1. Do you think fake people rock because you're a fake person?
